What is a Roller Shutter?
A roller shutter is a type of door or window shutter consisting of many horizontal slats hinged together. The roller shutter is raised to open it and lowered to close it. On large doors, the action may be motorised.

The foam filled aluminum roll formed slats are mounted on the outside of the window and provide protection from the sun during the summer keeping your home cool. Residential Curved profiles have been designed specifically to suit the domestic roller shutter market in Australia but are also ideal with many commercial applications. The slat is roll formed in Adelaide manufacturing facility to the highest of world standards using German built roll forming machines which are the most advanced of their type. The Residential Curved Series slat is a double walled cavity with PU foam injected during the roll forming process. This process provides economical strength and insulation qualities while maintaining exceptional working performance of the slat. The curved shape of the slat provides optimal lateral strength and minimal roll sizes, offering a much smaller head box size.

I contacted Oz Roller Shutters to get two north facing window shutters, around 2x2 meters, as a neighbour had used them a few years ago.
Communication and quoting was prompt and professional and Sam was more than helpful in guiding options and helping us select, as well as very reasonably priced from the outset (not quoting high and negotiating down like many other companies).
Installation occured even earlier than indicated, which was amazing. The shutters were installed extremely well, look great, function well and again Sam was great to deal with.

Sam and the team were accomodating to our needs. We were able to automate an old manually operated shutter which gave it longevity and avoided the need to change the entire unit. We used Oz Roller Shutters in December 2020 to install 14 shutters. It was one of the best decisions we made with regard to our home. Having our first level balcony facing the west where the suns sets we suffered for a couple of years from rain and heat hitting our glass windows and glass sliding doors. Even though we had refrigerated cooling it was still very warm in the house because of the heat from the sun. When it would rain it would be terrible. Everything on the balcony would be soaked and the floor would be wet and slippery. None of the above happens now. Our house stays cool in summer and warmer in winter without using the central heating as much.
With electricity and gas going through the roof its been a great investment in hindsight
We also had them installed on the ground level which makes us feel very safe. Pretty difficult for an intruder to come in when these heavy duty roller shutters are down. We cannot praise Sam Navi and their crew enough. They are so polite and willing to go that bit extra to make you happy. The reason I am writing this review so long after install is because we had another shutter installed recently and completely forgot to write a review after the initial install. We believe they look great but that's our opinion. They also have this great tool on their website where you are able to calculate how much it will cost you. I called other companies but found Oz Roller Shutters were much more competitive and consultative. Highly recommended.
We chose black surroundings because our window frames are black but you can choose whatever you like.
You won't be disappointed.
