The stainless steel cable is 2 mm thick and runs in between the wall cavity. During manual window roller shutters installation, an 8 to 10-mm hole is drilled through the wall in line with the pulley. A metal coiled spring is fitted in this hole and then the cable is passed through this spring from the pulley to the winding mechanism. The cable is frayed due to rubbing against this metal coiled spring or rubbing against brick within the wall cavity. At Oz Roller Shutters, we give a 1-year guarantee for cable on manually operated roller shutters due to the installation of a high-quality semi-rigid nylon guide instead of a metal coiled spring. If only the cable is worn out, you don’t have to change the winding mechanism.

Oz roller shutters use only STAFER series of steel-wire winches, with a capacity of up to 100 kg, which has been conceived to ensure the conservation of a high-quality standard over time. The size of the box winder which fits in the wall cavity is 75 mm x 110 mm. We don’t recommend using a manual operation system on windows larger than 2 m x 2 m. The electric motor is the best option to choose for larger size windows in the long term.

Broken Slats or shutter Jammed
Mostly the window roller shutter slats break due to negligence of operation such as the window/door being left open while the roller shutter is closing down. The spring fasteners and slats get damaged and must be replaced. Our technicians carry various colored slats and other components to repair the damaged roller shutter. Repair costs depend upon the number of slats that are to be replaced. The tubular motors also have to be readjusted. The price below includes repair of up to 3 spring fasteners, up to 5 damaged slats replacement (max. 2 meters wide), and motor limits readjustment. Do not operate the shutter if it is jammed, to avoid further damage to the slats.

ODS L10 motor replacement
Oz Roller Shutters is an authorized OzRoll Distributor for genuine OzRoll E-Port Controllers, remote control units, and accessories. These motors are battery-operated roller shutters, Outdoor blinds, and awnings can still be operated during a power outage.
The ODS L10 motor is a 12V lateral motor that has been specifically designed to work in conjunction with OzRoll’s low-voltage DC controllers. This motor can fit in end plates 165mm and above, making it available for use in shutters when the width is too small for a tubular motor, such as bathroom windows or bay windows. An internal gear works as a down stop for the motor which is set in our factory during assembly. Resistance causes the motor to stop on the way up which is achieved by using stops in the shutter guide. This means there are no limit settings required during installation. We used Oz Roller Shutters in December 2020 to install 14 shutters. It was one of the best decisions we made with regard to our home. Having our first level balcony facing the west where the suns sets we suffered for a couple of years from rain and heat hitting our glass windows and glass sliding doors. Even though we had refrigerated cooling it was still very warm in the house because of the heat from the sun. When it would rain it would be terrible. Everything on the balcony would be soaked and the floor would be wet and slippery. None of the above happens now. Our house stays cool in summer and warmer in winter without using the central heating as much.
With electricity and gas going through the roof its been a great investment in hindsight
We also had them installed on the ground level which makes us feel very safe. Pretty difficult for an intruder to come in when these heavy duty roller shutters are down. We cannot praise Sam Navi and their crew enough. They are so polite and willing to go that bit extra to make you happy. The reason I am writing this review so long after install is because we had another shutter installed recently and completely forgot to write a review after the initial install. We believe they look great but that's our opinion. They also have this great tool on their website where you are able to calculate how much it will cost you. I called other companies but found Oz Roller Shutters were much more competitive and consultative. Highly recommended.
